Le nostre origini<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Il progetto \u00e8 nato a Vigevano, nel nord Italia, tra la fine del 2019 e l’inizio del 2020. Volendo allontanarsi dal rock, Geoff chiese a diversi strumentisti di unirsi al gruppo e inizialmente la risposta fu entusiasta, tanto che all’inizio del 2020 avevamo un batterista, due chitarristi e una cantante, con Geoff alla voce maschile. Purtroppo, nello stesso periodo arriv\u00f2 il Covid e l’Italia fu colpita duramente. Il paese si chiuse e il nostro progetto si blocc\u00f2 bruscamente, praticamente per la maggior parte dei due anni successivi. Fu durante questo periodo che Geoff cre\u00f2 il nome della band (la cui storia \u00e8 raccontata in “Il nostro nome”). Quando la vita torn\u00f2 a una parvenza di normalit\u00e0, il tempo e le vite erano andati avanti e uno dopo l’altro perdemmo i membri, finch\u00e9 non rimasero solo la batterista, Piera, e Geoff. Segu\u00ec circa un anno di tentativi per far ripartire il progetto, con risultati altalenanti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abbiamo reclutato un chitarrista e una cantante e abbiamo iniziato le prove, ma, non per colpa dei nuovi membri, il gruppo non sembrava amalgamarsi e tutti noi stavamo ancora risentendo degli effetti del tentativo di riportare le nostre vite a una parvenza di normalit\u00e0 dopo il Covid, oltre a cercare individualmente di capire quale direzione musicale volessimo intraprendere. Le prove si fecero rare e il nostro chitarrista e la nostra cantante se ne andarono, di nuovo lasciando solo Piera e Geoff. Probabilmente \u00e8 grazie all’entusiasmo di Piera che il progetto \u00e8 sopravvissuto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verso la met\u00e0 del 2024 Alessia (all’et\u00e0 di 15 anni) \u00e8 entrata a far parte della nostra band come voce femminile. Segu\u00ec un periodo di prove a dir poco difficile. Una band goth\/symphonic metal con solo due cantanti e un batterista sarebbe stata una sfida fin dall’inizio. Fu durante questo periodo che Piera lasci\u00f2 la scena per altri impegni e arriv\u00f2 un nuovo batterista. Iniziammo a fare prove settimanali e si poteva notare che stavamo facendo dei progressi. Tuttavia, dopo poco tempo il nostro batterista se ne and\u00f2, lasciandoci solo Alessia e Geoff, e per quanto ci sforzassimo, si rivel\u00f2 impossibile trovare altri strumentisti. Quindi prendemmo una decisione.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alessia e Geoff decisero di continuare con quello che avevamo, ovvero noi due, e vedere cosa saremmo riusciti a realizzare. Geoff aveva creato delle basi musicali e nel 2025 iniziammo a fare prove regolari. Ed eccoci arrivati \u200b\u200bad oggi. Noi due continueremo a provare per migliorare le nostre performance e, se riusciremo a trovare altri strumentisti (soprattutto tastiere e magari archi \u2013 violino, violoncello, ad esempio), tanto meglio; altrimenti, andremo avanti come duo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il nostro nome<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All’inizio avevamo una batterista (Piera), un paio di chitarristi e una cantante (Sonia). Pensando a un nome per la band e guardando i nomi dei membri, a Geoff venne improvvisamente in mente che aggiungendo una T a Piera si otteneva Pietra, e aggiungendo una C a Sonia si otteneva Sonica. Cos\u00ec semplice eppure cos\u00ec perfetto, ecco il nostro nome: Pietra Sonica.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Our Origin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The project began in Vigevano northern Italy at the end of 2019\/beginning of 2020. Wanting to move away from rock, Geoff asked several instrumentalists to join and initially the response was enthusiastic, such that at the beginning of 2020 we had a drummer, two guitarists and a female vocalist with Geoff on male vocals. Unfortunately at the same moment Covid arrived and Italy was exceptionally hard hit. The country closed down and our project came to a shuddering halt, practically for most of the following 2 years. It was during this period that Geoff created the band’s name (that story recounted in “Our Name”). When life returned to some semblance of normality, time and lives had moved on and one by one we lost members until only our drummer, Piera, and Geoff were left. There followed a year or so of trying to get the project back up and running with mixed success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We recruited a guitarist and female singer and began rehearsals, but due to no fault of the new members it did not seem to gel and we were all still suffering the effects of trying to get our lives back to some semblance of normality after Covid, as well as individually trying to discover where we wanted to be musically. Rehearsals were few and far between and our guitarist and female singer had drifted away, once again leaving only Piera and Geoff. It is probably due to the enthusiasm of Piera that the project survived at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Somewhere around mid 2024 Alessia (at the age of 15) became part of our band on female vocals. There followed a period of rehearsals which were difficult to say the least. A goth\/symphonic metal band with only two singers and a drummer was always going to be a challenge. It was during this period that Piera left the scene due to other commitments and a new drummer arrived. We began weekly rehearsals and it could be seen that we were making some progress. However after only a short period our drummer left, leaving only Alessia and Geoff and try as we may it proved to be impossible to recruit instrumentalists. So a decision was made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alessia and Geoff decided to continue with what we had, ie. the two of us and see what we could achieve. Geoff had created backing tracks and in 2025 we started regular rehearsals. And so we arrive to the present day. The two of us will rehearse to improve our performance and if we can recruit instrumentalists (especially keyboard and maybe strings \u2013 violin, cello for example) all the better, otherwise we go forward as a duo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our name<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At the very beginning we had a drummer (Piera), a couple of guitarists and a female singer (Sonia). Thinking of a name for the band and looking at the names of our band members, it suddenly occurred to Geoff that adding a letter T to Piera, made Pietra and adding a letter C to Sonia made Sonica. So simple and yet so perfect, there was our name; Pietra Sonica.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
